Students chosen as HFI Interns will have the opportunity to work in an energetic and innovative environment while contributing to an independent, world renowned film institute.
Internship opportunities are offered in 3, 6 or 9 credit programs for one full semester, and provide a range of 150-450 hours of experience in film and video production services, professional writing, computer science, and marketing.
If selected to be a part of the HFI Academy Internship Program, students will take an active role in the student production team as well as internal processes of the institute. Interns have the opportunity to actively build a portfolio of work that they may showcase for future employment positions while gaining professional skills and confidence crucial for the workforce.
Ideal candidates are organized, creative, have a dedicated work ethic and have a passion for cinema, media arts and education. All interns will receive a stipend to be discussed upon acceptance into the program. Please look below for the different internship available.
HFI is looking for talented Computer Science students to join our organization as a Computer Science Research & Development Intern. We seek undergraduate seniors, post-graduates, or Graduate Students to contribute in research and data collection towards the development of a future digital content distribution platform that is facilitated by blockchain technology.
This will be a hybrid learning experience, consisting of in-person and remote responsibilities.
The intern will be working at the Institute in collaboration with a Ph.D. professor in Media and Communication, and with a Sr. Project Manager in the Entertainment & Media industry at the studio level. The intern will be focusing on gathering and researching data on content making and distribution via the Internet.
Professional Writing Interns have the exciting opportunity to develop their writing skills in a variety of challenging assignments. Aspects of this internship include researching and pitching story ideas for feature articles relating to HFI and the film industry, viewing and writing reviews for assigned films and attending and reporting on film festivals, screenings and discussion panels. Interns will also be responsible for diversifying, populating, and maintaining HFI’s social networking sites, including Twitter, Facebook and The Slate.
Videographer Interns are integral members of the production team and will work directly with clients from the pre-production stages through production. Collaborating directly with the Film Editor Intern, Videographer Interns are in charge of duties ranging from handling all camera equipment to translating abstract concepts into visual form and bringing the clients’ vision to life.
Film Editor Interns will be responsible for the post-production process. Interns will contribute their present experience and knowledge to experiment with styles and techniques of design, voiceover and commentary as well as graphic elements. They will also have the opportunity to consult with the director, producer and client of the HFI Agency film projects throughout the post-production and editing processes.
Marketing Interns will actively engage, cultivate and manage public relation campaigns and will be a vital component to HFI. Marketing interns are tasked with building brand awareness by developing a social media presence for both HFI and the production services of the HFI Agency. Interns will also collaborate with staff on new ideas, directions and venues for marketing and communications.
Please email your resume and cover letter stating the internship you are applying for, your reason of interest in HFI, and why you are the best candidate for the position. Be sure to note your days of availability and how many credits you wish to earn. HFI encourages you to include any other materials you have worked on and find relevant to your area of interest.
