Ron Howard is a hollywood actor and director well known for making beautiful award winning films solely inspired by a photograph. Such vivid imagination has led Howard to create Project Imaginat10n, an online film festival where anyone can submit photographs to inspire films.

The photograph submissions must personify one of ten aspects of film from setting to conflict. The winning photographs are chosen by Ron and his daughter Bryce Dallas Howard, from the photographs five films were directed by guest directors Jamie Foxx, Eva Longoria, Georgina Chapman, James Murphy, and Biz Stone. Five more films were produced, directed by winning photo submitters chosen and mentored by Ron Howard.

According to Variety, “the films which were 10-15 minutes long, premiered at the New York City’s Lincoln Center, and will soon travel the festival circuit.” This contest was started by Ron and Canon back in 2011 and was originally called Project Imagin8ion for the 8 categories the photos had to fill. The addition of celebrity directors is new this year and was implemented to attract more submissions. It worked, photos came from professionals, film students and even first timers all around the world. It seems like mainstream Hollywood is starting to take a serious interest in online filmmaking. Ron’s brother Clint Howard was the main actor in the winning film of the Haydenfilms 2.0 Online Film Festival, The Powder Puff Principle.
